Vineyard Notes: The Pinot Meunier grapes are sourced from various vineyards in the Marne Valley as well as Chavot in the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay subregion. The vines age ranges between 25 to 40 years. The multiple parcels have varied exposure. Soils are worked manually.
Vinification: Blend of 30% macerated Pinot Meunier with 60% white wine (immediately pressed Meunier) and 10% still red Meunier. Grapes are picked up by hand when fully ripe. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in in vats, foudres and barrels. The wine goes through partial malolactic fermentation. It is aged for 6 months and lightly filtered before bottling. Dosage was 2.5 grams.
Tasting Notes: It is simultaneously racy and rich, focused and full, with a long, dry finish. This is an exciting new wine by Champagne Laherte Frères, especially for Pinot Meunier lovers.
